Wellness At Providence Vet, pet exams are just one of the many services provided by our team on a daily basis. When was the last time you scheduled a pet exam for your beloved dog or cat? If itโ€™s been more than a year, then your pet is overdue. Fortunately, nowย is a great time to schedule a comprehensive health and wellness exam with our veterinary team!

Vaccinations During a wellness exam in our office, we can also make sure your pet is up-to-date on all recommended vaccinations. This is important because these vaccinations protect your pet from serious and even fatal illnesses/diseases, such as rabies. And of course, up-to-date vaccinations are often required any time you bring your pet in for grooming, boarding, or other common services. Routine Preventative Care Wellness exams fall under the umbrella of routine preventative care and areย soย important to your petโ€™s ongoing health and wellness at all stages of life. These exams allow our veterinary team to be on the lookout for signs of underlying health problems, making it possible to diagnose many medical conditions early on; this, in turn, improves chances for successful treatment.

Parasite Prevention During your petโ€™s wellness exam, we can also make sure your pet is on a great parasite/heartworm prevention regimen. If you need recommendations on a preventative medication, weโ€™d be happy to recommend one that suits your petโ€™s needs and lifestyle.

What to Expect

When you bring your pet in for a dog or cat exam in our office, weโ€™ll begin by weighing your pet, checking his or her temperature, and asking you some important questions about your petโ€™s health and lifestyle. This is also a good opportunity for you to bring up any questions or concerns you may have about your petโ€™s health.

From there, one of our veterinarians will go on to assess different aspects of your petโ€™s health, including his or her heart rate, breathing, coat health, teeth/gums, and more. If needed, we can administer any vaccinations that your pet is due for at the end of the appointment. If you have an older pet, we can also perform specialized geriatric screenings to protect your petโ€™s health and wellness as he or she ages.
