Diagnostics In concert with a thorough physical examination, we use state-of-the-art diagnostics to reach the correct diagnosis in a timely and efficient manner. Ultrasound, echocardiogram, digital full-body and dental x-rays, in and out-of-clinic blood and urine analyses, cytology, skin, urine, fecal, ear and blood cultures and fecal flotations are several of the methods we use to help us diagnose your pet, to ensure the best treatment possible.ย

Dermatology Dermatology involves the diagnosis and treatment of any disease involving your pet's coat, skin, external ear canals or nails. While allergic skin disease is very common in this area, skin lesions can be indicative of more serious and systemic issues involving other body systems, including hypothyroidism and Cushing's Disease. We use diagnostics like cytology, skin scraping, culture, biopsy, histopathology and blood tests to help diagnose the origin of your pet's skin condition and to inform our subsequent treatment. Soft Tissue Surgery Common soft tissue surgeries include oncologic surgeries to remove skin and abdominal tumors, abdominal surgeries including gastropexy, ovariohysterectomy, removal of retained testicles, biopsies, urinary bladder stone removal, wound care and limb amputations. Following oncologic surgeries, when appropriate, we refer to Blue Pearl Oncology specialists for chemo and radiation therapy.

Internal Medicine

Internal Medicine is the branch of veterinary medicine that involves more than one body system simultaneously. Common diseases we see, diagnose and treat include diabetes mellitus and insipidus, hypoadrenocorticism (Addison’s Disease), hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing’s Disease), hypo and hyperthyroidism and hyperparathyroidism. When appropriate, we refer to Blue Pearl Internal Medicine board-certified specialists for diagnostics including CT and MRI for further treatment.
